Students are able to check out a limited number of books: Kindergarten, one book, Grades 1-4, two books. Special accommodations will be made if more books are needed.
Responsibility
Children taking responsibility for the books/materials borrowed from the media center is at the heart of the media program. When materials are overdue, lost or damaged it affects all student who no longer have access to that
information. While students may choose to place the books they are returning in their classroom book basket for return to the library, a book is not considered returned to the library until it is placed in the media center return box.
Lost Books
Books are checked out for a two week loan period and may be renewed for another two weeks if needed. If a student has an overdue book, no more books/materials may be checked out until the overdue book is returned. If a
book is lost or damaged, it should be paid for, to allow the student to continue checking out materials from the media center. If the lost book is found and returned, in good condition, during the school year, the cost of the book will
be refunded in full.
In accordance with school district policy lost or damaged books not paid for or replaced will result in your child not participating in any co-curricular activities while attending Farmington Public Schools grades K-12. This
includes, but is not limited to, service squad, Field Day, clubs, sports, dances, honors or graduation ceremonies, and student parking.
Mistakes Happen - With over 1000 books being checked in and out of the Media Center each week. If your child is issued an overdue notice, but is certain the book has been returned we have a 1, 2, 3 procedure:
- 1. Check the Media Center shelf.
- 2. Check backpack/classroom.
3. Check house/car.
Again, if the book is not found, we ask that it be paid for and the money will be refunded if the book is found/returned
in good condition.
